"To make ends meet and still be able to study besides work, Mary (Layla Randle-Conde) has become a cam-girl, a girl who undresses and masturbates for stranger in front of a camera for the exchange of money. She doesn't like her job, but she doesn't really hate it, either - and weirdly enough, the oneperson she can really talk to, who she thinks can understand her, is one of her visitors on the site, Honourious.

The rent is due, and money is tight, especially since the last cheque from the camgirl-site hasn't arrived yet. The landlord suggests another form of payment, and of course, Mary at first turns him down, because that would make her a prostitute, and she isn't that desperate ... at loeast not at first, but when her money just doesn't arrive no matter how much she needs it, she gives in to his demands, after all, it's just this one time. Anyways, this is just one more thing she can never tell her friends, who are all better off than her and don't know about financial hardships, but it's another thing she can talk to Honourious about, primarily because he has seen everything since she has left her webcam on. Even he's disappointed in her, though ...

Soon enough, Mary starts to notice there is someone else in her apartment, someone who leaves her roses at random spots, and someone who has drilled holes in her walls to better spy on her. She is sure the intruder is her landlord, so she reports everything to the police (though leaves out the part when she let him have sex with her), and when the landlord cannot be found, has apparently made a getaway, everything seems to fit. However, due to her stressful experiences, Mary is overcome by guilt, so she phones in a confession to her priest she hasn't been in touch with for a long time.

After a short period of quiet, the intruder makes himself known to Mary again ...

Cam Girl is a tight little thriller of the slasher variety that slims down the genre to the max: Apart from a handful of scenes, the whole story is confined to Mary's apartment - which somehow makes sense in context with her profession as webgirl, who confines her viewers to whatever part of her bed she chooses to allow them to see -, and there are no other castmembers apart from Layla Randle-Conde - again in accordance with the movie's topic. And despite being very limited in settings and cast, the film works beautifully, on one hand because it's written with its limitations in mind and makes full use of them, on the other hand because it's directed in a very intimate yet suspenseful way, and on the third hand (if there is such a thing) because it's nicely carried by Layla Randle-Conde, who doesn't shy away from the more demanding aspects of her role either.

Recommended, actually.

I ain't no Tory (nor anything else!) but it's nice to see that there might just be a "heart" in there somewhere, even if they're too damned scared of the hierarchy to say their names. If you click on this link (the blue fox) what you'll discover is some superb, thought provoking writing about the subject of fox hunting that every British voter ought to be aware of. Let it sink in, because this is some of the best writing I've seen in ages and it's for a good cause. You know when something like this is "real" and comes from the true heart, because whoever it is, they're not claiming any kudos nor bolstering their own ego, they're simply supporting the cause - NO FOX HUNTING. Simple. I won't go on and on about why it's bad to kill an innocent animal in the way they seem to think is right, I'll leave that to the blue fox and your own conscience, but please do take a look and spread the word. It seems not all Tories are out to kill our furry friends.

Secrets of the Masters

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1

These infamous words taken from the Gospel of John are full of magic and mystery. This is just how religious texts should be. They should cause a moment of thought. They ought to make us reflect and, in my opinion, the depth of the above statement is one that will remain with mankind forever. But truly, what does it mean?

Well, breaking it down we are at least given a time period – the beginning. You can’t really go to anywhere before that point. In modern scientific thought this would be the moment of the Big Bang. In fact these biblical sentiments of there being a Word at the very beginning are mirrored across religions and cultures, not just science. In the Hindu faith the word is Om or Aum, which means simply “to sound out loud.” It is the primal sound or vibration (frequency) that accompanied the creative process, as if that which was within suddenly emerged. It is the sacred syllable, the sound that went forth and from which all else was made. Humans often make this sacred sound, as if they were joining with the creator and in fact one of the meanings behind Aum is the principle that it creates or re-creates unity between all things. It is known as pravana, meaning to make a sound or hum. The Katha Upanishad tells us that Aum is the ultimate goal of all humans, all things, and that whoever truly knows Aum will have all he desires. Just like Christianity, this creative Word is also a seeming paradox in that it is also a trinity. The three elements of the magical creative principle give us creation (Brahma), preservation (Vishnu) and destruction (Shiva). Or in Christianity, the Virgin birth, the life and the death. As in Hinduism, we start all over again with creation (rebirth/resurrection).

To science, the Word would be the energy catalyst that set the thing in motion – the spark. It is the energy that sustains it and it is the force that will bring it all back together again at the Big Crunch, at which point, it is postulated that it will all begin again. One thing that does seem remarkable is that the “sound” of the Big Bang is said to still be audible in the universe today. They tell us that we can see it in the white noise of the TV screen and hear it on radio waves in the background. I wonder if it’s saying “Aum?”

To many scientists there ought to be no philosophical or theological musings on the facts, just the facts, whatever they may be. And yet, even those supposedly cold, analytical minds chew the fat on the question of who planted the dynamite. And why should a creator be taken out of any scientific equation? After all, if science is the search for truth and understanding of our place in the universe then we should never rule out an intelligence, higher, smarter or more powerful than ourselves. The unfortunate thing is, that the current facts don’t help us in deciding whether there was a creator or not. I have no wish to come down on either side of the fence, but real evidence would be as clear as black or white, and it isn’t there at present. Something planted the dynamite of the Big Bang, didn’t it? Or was it an accident? If so, where did all the “stuff” come from in the first place? The questions have still not been satisfactorily answered by scientists because they simply don’t have the answers. And yet, just because we have questions, does not necessarily mean there are, nor should be answers. We are more often than not, left with that very human thing – experience. It is the feeling, emotion and connection to something that forces the mind of the individual to come to an acceptance that he is not alone and is in fact united to something much bigger than himself. There is often no argument against the faith and belief which comes from such an emotion other than the psychiatrist who tells us we have tripped or had an hormonal overdose. In the end, as it has always been, the choice is one of free will to believe or not to believe.

So, moving on from the beginning, we find that this peculiar thing called a “Word” was there at the beginning. That it was with God, because it was God. So God is a Word? So what is a Word? Well in the actual proper translation of the original Greek we discover that it means “saying.” It comes from the Greek word, Logos. Five hundred years before Christ, Heraclitus said that Logos was the source and fundamental order of the cosmos – all existence and the creative spark itself was the Logos, something that Islam holds to. It also means the inward intention of action – the moment before we actually speak. It is the impulse, the energy thought made real. It is incredibly powerful. Words such as logo and logic are derived from this small word, revealing the spark it has itself created. A logo is a symbolic device used to represent a meaning. It spells out for those who recognize it what is the intention of the owner. Logic is something that is derived from being able to speak or reason and argue. We are assumed to be intelligent because we can voice our thoughts. We can give external life to internal thoughts. But so can animals. When my dog is fearful, he will bark and growl. He too is making external his inner emotions. But he cannot argue points of interest. He can’t express beliefs, whether esoteric or exoteric. That is the human domain and so Logos would not be applied to the “bark” of a dog. It is something more.

So, whatever this “Word” was in the beginning, it was conscious, thoughtful and gave voice to its inward musings. It created “something” by externalizing inner thoughts. In fact, we are all Gods in this respect, because every time we speak we are using the very same energy, which came from the Big Bang. Our thoughts are energy waves just as our speech are sound waves. These waves are energetic and all energy ultimately came from the one source. In the same way the Sufi concept of the Baraka has this energy continuing through the very words of the Masters. Each Sufi Master will pass on his teachings to the next generation until the end of time. They believe that the Baraka is the “word” of the Divine and that only through their own balance and wisdom will they be able to continue the process.

There is immense power in the words we use. We can lift somebody up out of misery or we can strike them down into the gloom of depression – just by letting them know what we think of them!

Recently I was fortunate enough to spend a couple of days with the author, Colin Wilson and his wife Joy in sunny Cornwall, England. We ate a beautiful dinner and chatted for hours. Our words, given freely, were imparting our thoughts to each other, our energy shared. We recognized what the Hindu would call the Atman in each of us. The Atman is the soul that rests within each and every one of us. It is the energy of the universe, the creator and if the material body and will of the human is of the correct mind then one Atman will recognize the Atman in another – it will see itself.
The atman is the soul which recognises the atman of all existence – it is part of the whole and yet the whole itself. Carl Jung, the psychoanalyst often used a story, which expressed the lack of understanding we have in the West for such concepts, stating that our Christianised personas failed utterly to comprehend non-linear ideas.

The story goes like this: An initiate visited his master one day and asked about the atman. How would he recognise the atman in others? The master said that was the role of the atman and that even the atman within an elephant would recognise another. The next day the initiate was walking along a path when he saw an elephant and a rider. Deciding that his own atman and that of the elephants would have knowledge of each other he walked on and into the path of the great beast. The rider shouted and screamed at the initiate to move out of the way, but he refused to listen to the rider, trusting instead in the wise words of his master.

The elephant also refused to move and lifted the initiate up into the air with his trunk and threw him some distance. The initiate, bruised and shocked, went to see his master the following day and complained bitterly. The master simply stated, you failed to listen to the rider, he too has the atman, as do all things.

Because of the mindset of the West we have to deal with everything in a box-like, linear fashion, not understanding symbolism and parable for what they very often are – deep truths. Instead we break the world apart and reduce it down to constituent parts and then we can no longer see the whole – the atman.

Every action, every thought, intention and idea has a consequence in the whole. Refusing or failing to listen to the atman, from wherever it derives, is a failing of the West, for the atman is the true self and now we struggle to even comprehend this. Our arrogance and aloofness is our persona and before we know it some great beast will come along and throw us from our path, because we have refused to listen.

In the West we would say that we were on the same wavelength, tuned into each other. The Atman is no different to the Word in as much as it is the energy, the Aum, the creator. The Word is also the breath of God and so too Atman means breath. Of course, the Atman is also the true Self, for we are all from one.

Myself, Colin and the author, Dennis Price spent time contemplating the words we shared, absorbing them into our minds, sorting them out amidst our own notions. In sleep our unconscious self would shuffle the thoughts away into electrical-bio-chemical filing cabinets ready to be used again and merging with files already stored away. It is an incredible electric sorting system and yet we are not fully in control of where the files are stored for we are unconscious of the act. The filing is left to Nature. It is the Aum that controls our inner and true Self for our true inner Self is the Aum.

We don’t always have to meet somebody in person to share their energy, for quite often it can be stored in Words on paper. How often have we sat reading and thought to ourselves, I recognize what he or she is saying, I share that thought… That thought is energy and you have just shared it. To me, the way Colin Wilson writes has always hit a point of shared energy and it was no different in person.

Colin sprang to fame overnight in 1956 with his international best-selling book, The Outsider, which expressed his emotions in a way that had never been done before, nor bettered since. He openly tells how he has battled with his own dark-side. His negative thoughts nearly killed him as he almost committed suicide. And yet he found that the “creative principle” saved him. He read uplifting poetry and found that the words on the page were actually affecting his emotions. The “words” were changing him and the more he read the more uplifted he became. He spent the next fifty years of his life writing over one hundred books and in the constant search for truth. His work has influenced tens of thousands of people to read uplifting words. His energy shared. I do not share all of Colin’s beliefs in the strange and peculiar world of the paranormal, but I do share the common bond of the search for truth and I do agree that words, symbols and sounds can uplift the spirit and help the mind re-shift itself back on track to a more positive life.

In today’s world we are fed a constant stream of negative news. We turn on the 24 hour news channels and find ourselves bombarded with stories of pandemics, financial turmoil, global environmental catastrophe, war, murder and all-manner of “news worthy” nonsense. Think about it. How often do we see the stories of a positive nature on mainstream channels? There are plenty of good stories to be told, but humanity wants to hear about the frightening ones first and those who wish to control the sheep prefer them to huddle together frightened! And it is not just the news channels. Even our entertainment is often depressing and negative. Soap operas and TV movies are full of unreal characters dying, tortured, arguing, depressed and down on their luck. And yet we tune in by the millions and so only have ourselves to blame for the junk we watch and then become. But why are we so stupid? That is a question each and every one of us must ponder for ourselves, but humans do have a propensity to such things as a whole and there are evolutionary reasons behind it. Often, seeing other people’s misfortunes, even if they are actors playing out the role, makes us feel better, superior and safer. While the infirm wildebeest is being picked off at the back of the pack, we know that we are safe. We may feel sorry for them, but we’ll also learn from their mistakes.

So, our input is more often than not dark and gloomy, but it makes us feel on the whole a little safer. For those of us who need a stimulant we can always read some wise and uplifting poetry and move forward. In both cases it is the energy from all around us that is helping us to survive. We are not islands, distanced from our neighbors by a void. We are connected to them in ways we don’t even realize. The energy or sound wave of the words from the TV set are influencing our minds. When we read, it is via the waves of light that we see the black shapes. We then convert those shapes into letters and words and then we reason through what we have just processed. It all happens so fast because it’s processed at high energetic levels within the mind.

But there is more depth to this energy that we need to understand. Our words are formed from our understanding and observations. We see a “snake” and we give it ssserpentine names. It zigzags, slithers, hisses and sloughs its skin. The words have emotion and meaning built in from our observation of the snake. We can place emotion at all levels into our words, not just with the way we speak them and stress them, but also in the structure and order of the letters. The letter V is a power letter. Vindictive, vindicate, vengeance, venomous, victory, vile, virulent, virus are just a few of the words starting with v to add power to them. W is a softer letter and gives us wisdom, water, wet, willing and so on. All letters are derived from some form of observation and the words formed from them also. We are in this way adding the magic of mind into the energy wave of sound.

We add in our spiritual thoughts too. Our deities are often manifestations of light, because the sun guides our way and gives us life. We wake in the sunlight and disappear into the darkness of the dream state at night. Allah is derived from Il meaning to shine and so many others such as Elohim, Michael and Gabriel all include the Il or El for shining. The English word “the” is a descriptive term added into English. The Latin is Ille for “that” and contains “Il” for light. God is the most powerful thing and using “the” is claiming it for God (Theo) or the true Self (Atman, Aum).

So the Word is powerful. It is creative, emotive and magical. When we put letters together we “spell” and any good magician knows the power of a good spell.

This article is a mass of words. I have placed them in order to make sense to the reader. I have converted my thoughts and observations into them. In so doing and depending upon my skill as a writer I can make them more or less powerful. But they all started somewhere a long time ago in the mists of time. They began when man became conscious and self-aware. Suddenly he saw the magnificence of the world around him. He looked up and saw light and dark. He looked around and saw diversity. He stared into the water and saw his own reflection mirrored on that world of water in which he could not survive. He started to reason and order, to rip Nature apart with reductionism. He named things from his observation and in so-doing he believed he was master over it. His power grew as he learned. But he also realized he was weak, that one day he would die, that his mind imagined things he would often rather not be conscious of.

The imagination is one of the most powerful evolutionary tools we have become conscious of. It reveals the true magical power for it contains the word ‘mage.’ The very first mention of the word explained that it was the faculty of the mind to form and manipulate image. We used it from the very start. We wondered about what would happen if we chipped that flint into a specific shape and how we could use it to skin an animal or kill a man. We imagined ourselves in situations and prepared ourselves for them before they actually arrived – should we defend or should we attack?

Thousands of years past by and millions of minds imagined until we arrived at a zero moment when man pondered what would happen if he split the atom. He unleashed a torrent of universal energy upon his fellow man, as if the final statement in a dark side was at last revealed. Always there was two sides. Almost free energy, and mass destruction as a bonus.

The Word had come full circle and man now believed he was with God. He had used words to pass on knowledge to each other, slowly accumulating vast resources of information locked away in those magical words. He had looked into creation itself and believed he had found the smallest part and called it the atom. Then he wanted to play, like some Athenian deity. And then the dark magic was cast upon the land by a child who seemed never to learn. We quickly discovered that we were not God’s. We were humans and we failed utterly to realize that there was a dark nature residing within us. But this has happened before. Not nuclear warfare, but nevertheless warfare, hatred, destruction and deceit.

Man, using the word has revealed himself, warts and all, to each other. He has collected great libraries and then burned them to the ground for power. He formulated religions based on sacred concepts, then burned his opponents at the stake. He invented clever transport systems and proceeded to poison the atmosphere. He has created a world mind with the internet and then turned it into a reservoir for porn and bomb making. It seems no matter where we have turned with this power of the “word” we have always taken ourselves along.

But all is not lost. Along the way there have been those who have understood the true Nature of man. We seem to think that today, in the 21st century we are at some kind of pinnacle. That this date or that date will bring a great enlightenment for the world of humanity because we are that close. Others of course believe only the dark side and see a catastrophe. There is nothing new under the sun and almost every age has predicted such things.

There have been Masters of the mind and word. There have been people who have seen clearly the sacred ratio’s of existence and the power of the imagination. We remember some, but even more have disappeared into obscurity, for not all Masters wished to be written into the pages of history, to become mere words.

At the moment I am working hard on an actual movie I've written and will be directing. It's a psychological paranormal horror thriller with a lot of ancient mystery thrown in. We have some amazing people working on it, which is my first venture into the world of theatrical as opposed to documentary. I have producers, editors, directors of photography, sound, cam op, fx make-up artists, musical score being written and a whole host of amazing actors coming on board. At present we don't want to shout about what the film is called or the plot or indeed the actors (contractual reasons) but Tony Scannell is one of them (he played Ted Roach in The Bill - see pic below) with several big rock stars you'll definitely recognise and some actors you may see in the cinema in some quite epic movies! That said, I am also casting a whole bunch of actors that are very very good and deserve to be showcased!

What have I let myself in for?!

The great author, Colin Wilson (The Occult and over a 100 other books) has written an introduction to the book. Here's a taster from Colin:

"When the writer Henry Miller returned home to New York in 1940, he set out to summarise his impressions of America in a book called The Air-Conditioned Nightmare. Its title tells us all we need to know about his feelings about America after a decade spent in Europe. He hated it.

More than half a century later, Miller's title is a good summary of the views of Philip Gardiner, the author of the present book, on our civilisation.

But we need to add an important qualification, which is to be found in the following paragraph of his first chapter:

'Fear is now so complex that it is a paradox in our so-called ordered society. But we need to strip away all the myriad excuses we come up with to replace the word fear and realize that it all revolves around the loss of self. It is in fact the sickness at the heart of consciousness and overcoming this one core principle will set you truly free onto a road without delusions. The reason? Because we create delusions to escape it and the marketing men of the world use every chance they can get to pull finely woven threads from our fears and form webs that trap us. If you overcome fear, then you will realize that your life has been spent in a web, created from your own emotions.'

As we can see, Gardiner is far less pessimistic than Henry Miller. That is largely because he is a better thinker – in fact, Miller is hardly a thinker at all. Gardiner sets out to analyse how we got ourselves into this mess, and he begins by asking how we came to create civilisation. Our ancestors were nomads who followed their food – the herds – across the great plains. Periodically they came to a halt, and had to take the first simple steps in creating comfort. And it was then the complications began...

The complications eventually led to the emergence of one of the major villains of this book, the 'marketing man', whose schemes and inventions make us increasingly passive, and therefore create an odd feeling of frustration that we cannot detach ourselves enough to understand. For if our civilisation produces an endless stream of products designed to keep us satisfied, then how can we be unhappy?

It so happens that Gardiner was himself at one time a highly successful marketing man, and therefore knew about their techniques from the inside. It was this that made him decide to retire from it and start thinking about the mess. It made him realise that some of the marketing ploys can be as dangerous as elephant traps. His chapter (6) on the Internet contains examples of some attempted swindles that would be funny if they were not so insidious – letters offering us vast sums of money if we will go into a partnership that involves merely acting as agents and taking charge of funds that will then flood into our bank accounts... (I myself usually receive a least one a week.)

All this sheer mass of complexity tends to overwhelm us and erode our sense of freedom. And what is freedom? The inventor Buckminster Fuller put his finger on it when he remarked 'I seem to be a verb'. And when we feel 'like verbs', seething with vital energy, we instinctively understand who we are and what life is about.

In the last decade of his life, the French novelist Flaubert decideed to write a novel that would summarise everything he disliked about modern life. It would be about two copying clerks called Bouvard and Pecuchet, who fall into conversation as they sit on a bench and realise how much they have in common. Both feel that life has cheated them by tying them to a desk, and both long to expand their knowledge of the world. Now they will move in together, and set out to learn everything their education has denied them, all about art and science and history. When one of them is left a fortune, they spend their days sitting facing one another at a desk and passing on to each other remarkable pieces of information about the real world. 'Only phenomena are true' they declare. And of course, the result is sheer chaos, an avalanche of meaningless facts.
How can we fight our way out of this avalanche? What is necessary is a certain knowledge about the force of evolution. The author's excelent summary goes:

'Professor James Gardner, a peer reviewed philosopher of universal law said in What is Enlightenment magazine that the universe is intelligent at the subatomic level and that it acts like a DNA feedback loop. DNA, as it instructs cells to grow is fed back information by the cell at the quantum level and it then uses this information and sends back further instructions. It is believed that the universe does this also and that we are part of the cellular structure feeding information back into the universal DNA and then receiving new instructions. We are all connected to everything via quantum particle entanglement – we just don’t know it. We are in fact conscious beings at a level of existence that is mathematically in perfect balance with the universe and we are at the very center of this structure. There are as many atoms within us as there are stars in the universe – we are perfectly centered in the greater cosmic soup. In fact it would take as many humans to make the mass of our very own sun, as there are atoms within us – and so we are at the very center of our solar system. We are connected perfectly to the universe both at the quantum level and the mathematical harmonious level – it is perfection created from chaos. '

This is the answer to the chaos that entraps Bouvard and Pecuchet, and that left Henry Miller feeling that we are living in an air-conditoned nightmare. Miller felt that way because he was no thinker. But Philip Gardiner is a thinker, and is not intimidated by the problem. And in this stimulating, vigorously written book, he demonstrates that no one needs to be intimidated – provided he is willing to use his mind for the purpose it was intended.

There'll be a special Robin Hood show recorded soon for Gardiner's World, featuring the official Nottinghamshire Robin Hood, Ade Andrews, and James Earnshaw and Roam who have written the score for the upcoming Documentary on Robin Hood (due for release April 2010). Just wanted to let you know about a new website we've created for our genre where you can upload your articles and get the word out about what your'e doing, your thoughts, your latest book etc. www.conspiracyforum.co.uk is the site, yeah I know, but it's a good title for search engines. There is no catch, its totally free to everybody as it's funded by myself and the web guy. Right now it's just got some articles on from me, so it needs your input!

Basically all you have to do is upload articles, spread the word to friends about the site etc and we'll do the rest. We have some serious seo (search engine optimization) going on with this one as the guy who is sorting it out is a web genius and gets millions of hits a month on his other stuff. So if we can all help to build the site and spread the word then it'll be good for everybody and a great resource of information and people in the know. There's several headers and sub categories, but if there's one missing you think we should have then yell! You can upload a pic and a bio, links and more and it's not very time consuming too! You can put video and web links in the articles, book reviews and anything you want.

Later we'll be adding videos and all kinds of things so if you have anything you'd like to see tell us. Basically, its an open thing, devised for people to express their opinions freely. We won't put up with some things though, such as slander, porn and hate material as you would expect and if you see something that offends please let us know. This is about people thinking for themselves, not abuse. It's not perfect yet and we are ironing out the bugs as we go so let us know if you spot anything.

It would be really great if we got this going with a bang and everybody wanted to join in, so please do pass the word around to everybody!

This is a joy of a book to read! The author has chosen a group of significant magical figures and influential fiction writers and turned a spotlight onto the shadows of their worlds. The result is a veritable smorgasbord of fascinating facts, interesting speculations and unveiled purposes. I enjoyed the selection, which at first might seem mismatched, but all demonstrated diverse threads of inquisitive exploration through their work, which is set against the backdrop of the science and magic of their times.
The figures covered are the magician Paracelsus, Grand Master Pinto of the Knights of Malta, and the authors Arthur Conan Doyle, Jules Verne, H.G. Wells, Bram Stoker and Bob Kane (creator of Batman). The final two chapters discuss magic, the mind and god, and then the story of King Canute, and how he showed the wisdom of knowing where power lay and where it did not.
So if you want to find out about the connection between Jules Verne and Rosicrucianism, or H.G. Wells and the New World Order, or Batman and Dracula, this book is for you. It is extremely entertaining and enjoyable, with each chapter bringing its own insights and revelations, making it a thoroughly worthwhile read.

Earthpages: Gardiner’s World: The TV Show, Series 2 is a great introduction to various metaphysical ideas, alternative histories and holistic psychologies.

This is the second in a new series for Sky TV (UK) hosted by the acclaimed and controversial investigator Philip Gardiner.

First up on the show is Hugh Montgomery, a retired professor whose views about Jesus not dying on a cross, possibly traveling as far as India and apparently having two wives will no doubt raise a few eyebrows among the Christian orthodox.

Next, author and journalist Philip Coppens talks about connections among the New Pyramid Age, (which he believes began in 1994), the Grail Story and Sacred Stones. Among other unconventional ideas, Coppens says the Grail shouldn’t be viewed as legend but as a family history.

Third, visionary musician and artist Nick Ashron appears unplugged live after talking about the healing properties of music. This is a classic instance of theory and practice working together. One can literally feel the peace as Ashron works his magic on the guitar.

To wrap up the program, the international author and speaker, Brian Mayne, discusses the power of positive thinking, suggesting that looking on the bright side of life increases serotonin levels, which in turn activates the whole brain. With all of our cerebral cylinders firing, Mayne says we can solve problems better.

This DVD is testimony to Gardiner’s versatility. Part scholar, mystic, film producer and now TV host, it seems there’s practically nothing he won’t try. And perhaps it’s that innovative, “can-do” spirit that keeps Reality Films fresh.

Nottingham Author and Filmmaker to Make new Robin Hood Documentary

Nottingham author, Philip Gardiner, is currently in pre-production stages of a new Robin Hood documentary entitled From Hollywood to Dark Wood.
Working with LA company, Reality Films, Gardiner intends to break some new evidence he has uncovered on the infamous outlaw, which several scholars have recently stated as groundbreaking. Although Reality Films wish to keep the new discovery a secret until the film is released, Gardiner would like to hear from anybody in the Nottingham area who has researched Robin Hood and the legends for possible interviews for the film.
Philip Gardiner is the author of several best-selling books, including The Bond Code and Secret Societies as well as being an award-winning filmmaker with documentaries such as The Extraordinary Voyages of Jules Verne and the latest Warner Bros distribution of Ancient Code – The Movie.
"Being a Nottingham guy I’d love to hear from local experts and researchers on the subject of Robin Hood and we could possibly visit them in their homes to film an interview for inclusion in the film." Said Gardiner.

ANGELS, DEMONS AND A “VAST AND SUBTLE CODE”
As Dan Brown’s Angels and Demons is released, I won’t be adding my voice to the inevitable chorus of derision from archaeologists and historians as they pour scorn on the notion of a trail of arcane clues awaiting discovery by a dedicated if unorthodox researcher. The earlier release of Dan Brown’s book and film of the Da Vinci Code met with a similarly hostile response, but when we consider the greatest historical mystery of them all, namely the whereabouts of Jesus during his so-called “missing years”, there are credible suggestions that the most famous human being who has ever lived spent his teenage years and early adulthood in Britain."Angels and Demons" stars Tom Hanks as expert symbologist Robert Langdon in pursuit of the Illuminati, a secretive organisation known to have existed since the 18th century. The film’s set in the Vatican City, whose labyrinthine corridors conceal subtle evidence of some profound revelation, but those of us visiting or living in Britain need look no further than our own shores for compelling signs of a truly momentous event with direct links to the Bible. The New Testament tells us how Jesus amazed the elders in the temple as 12 year old scriptural prodigy, but he vanishes from the gospels for 18 years before re-appearing in his homeland to embark upon his famous ministry aged 30.There’s absolutely no doubt that he had been elsewhere during these “missing years”, because the fact that he was physically unrecognisable to those who should have known him best is unmistakably clear. The gospel of Mark contains what is perhaps the most striking example of this, when the people of Nazareth listen to Jesus preaching, then ask each other “Where did the man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?” He had to pay a stranger’s tax when he went to Capernaum and his own cousin John the Baptist didn’t recognise him, so we must start looking beyond the Middle East for evidence of his whereabouts and when we do so, the trail leads firmly to Britain.There are legends of Jesus visiting the West of England as a youth, while the most famous expression of these stories appears in William Blake’s Jerusalem, a song that’s gone on to become our unofficial national anthem, with its opening line “And did those feet in ancient time walk upon England’s mountains green?” Most people think of these words as a poetic fantasy, but I believe that William Blake was writing about an historical event and I’ve presented a wealth of evidence for this in my book “The Missing Years of Jesus – The Greatest Story Never Told.”There’s nothing incredible about the idea of someone from the eastern Mediterranean travelling to Britain in antiquity, because we know that Phoenician mariners ventured into the North Sea as far back as 500 years before Jesus was born. The West Country legends are remarkable, furthermore, because they’re straightforward accounts of a young man working in mines in Cornwall and the Mendips, and building a wattle and daub church to his mother in Glastonbury. If they had been mediaeval myths invented by people anxious to impress and demonstrate their loyalty to the church, we would expect to hear numerous lofty accounts of miracles and conversions, but the stories speak of specific acts and there’s abundant evidence ‘on the ground’ and in the literature that suggests that the legends are speaking the simple truth.Tom Hanks aka Robert Langdon may have had to apply himself to the intimate study of fantastically cryptic clues in pursuit of the truth about the Illuminati and at first glance, the idea of realistically locating a youthful Jesus in Britain might seem to be impossible, especially if we choose to be dissuaded from such a pursuit by those who sneer at the notion of the existence of anything remotely resembling a “Jesus Code”. Be that as it may, it is an extremely simple matter if we do nothing else but examine the matter in a logical fashion.Over the course of his ‘missing years’, Jesus acquired those characteristics for which he’s so renowned, such as his fantastic skills as an orator, his exercise of judgement in disputes and his ability to melt unharmed through hostile crowds, all three of which were noted attributes of the ancient British Druids. His revolutionary attitude towards women caused a sensation in his homeland, but it was the norm in Britain of the first century, where queens such as Boadicea and Cartimandua were held in such high regard by the people of the time. His fondness for hills as spiritual retreats instantly brings to mind other high places such as Glastonbury, where the legends consistently place him, while his unparalleled ability to banish unclean spirits had to have been acquired somewhere, so the spectre-infested landscape around Stonehenge and elsewhere in the West Country seems a perfectly appropriate setting.There’s the famous episode of the Calming of the Storm, where Jesus slept through a tempest of such ferocity that the others on board feared they would drown; not only did he sleep through this storm, but the others had to wake him, so we can’t avoid the fact that by the time he ‘reappeared’, Jesus had become a seasoned mariner, which supports the numerous tales of him arriving by ship in Cornwall. Moreover, Jesus has no Biblical ‘alibi’ for this period, which I think was effectively a trial run for his later ministry; simple logic tells us there must have been a first time when this man communed with angels and banished demons, while the New Testament don’t portray Jesus as someone who was learning these matters as he went along.When we look beyond the Bible for signs of his passing in Britain, we find more tangible evidence and we do not need to be archaeologists, historians or symbologists to do so. There are ecclesiastical accounts of the ‘precepts of Christ’ being seen in Britain during the reign of Tiberius [AD 14 – 37] and we read of Jesus appearing to a saint in a dream, warning him not to consecrate the old church at Glastonbury because he [Jesus] had already done so. There are the bizarre ‘tunic crosses’ scattered across Cornwall that show a youth preaching, as opposed to the figure of a crucified man, and there are the enigmatic coins from early first century Somerset, telling us that someone with the highly suggestive name of Eisu rose to prominence at exactly the same time that Jesus was said to have been here and in exactly the same area. The list of curiosities goes on and I’m in the process of detailing them on my Eternal Idol dot com site by way of expanding on parts of my book, but the most recent to come to my attention is the strange sight of Jesus descending into Hell wielding an English flag, in a mural in a monastic cell in Florence that was executed by Fra Angelico from 1440.It is perhaps worth bearing in mind that this artist was beatified by the late Pope John Paul II in 1982, so it’s hardly likely that such an honour would have been conferred on someone who painted scenes containing heretical symbols. There are earlier depictions of a similar scene, but it seems beyond all coincidence that Fran Angelico’s mural appeared shortly after the Church councils of Pisa [1409], Constance [1417], Sienna [1424] and Basle [1434] all ruled that the Christian church in Britain was the oldest in the world, while the cross of St George had become synonymous with England long before that. Before the release of Angels and Demons, Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code spawned an industry of investigations into other ancient and ecclesiastical ‘codes’, but there’s a rock-solid and highly respectable precedent for looking into these matters with great care, regardless of the derision of others.Dr Margaret Gelling OBE died a few weeks ago, but she had been President of the English Place-Name Society and her most notable discovery was that the Anglo-Saxons had 40 separate words for hill, something she described in a 1995 interview as “a vast and subtle code”. In an echo of some of today’s exchanges, one of her critics described her findings as “trivial and accidental”, to which she replied “If you go out and use your eyes, you see that that is the most appalling mistake.” As for standing up to the preconceived ideas of the establishment, “Margaret Gelling preaches the need to question authority, and for subversion, on all occasions”, something we read in an interview from 1995 in the sober pages of British Archaeology, Britain’s foremost archaeological magazine.I could not agree more, but does the evidence for Jesus in Britain, communing with angels at high places and banishing demons on wastelands, constitute “a vast and subtle code?” Everything I’ve seen suggests to me that this is the case and judging from the response to my book so far, I’m far from being alone in thinking this. I’m inclined to believe that the extraordinary sight of Jesus bearing the flag of St George is part of this grand design, while my ongoing studies of the material that continues to come in suggests to me that some truly astonishing thing from William Blake’s “ancient times” lies hidden somewhere among the hills and mountains of a specific region of South Wales. This was a singularly unwelcoming, remote and inaccessible location during Roman times, but it was also the setting for one of the first centres of Christianity, which positively begs the question of why these early Christians should have settled and prospered in such an apparently hostile place so far from the birthplace and homeland of their saviour?This elusive “thing” may turn out to be nothing more than Fool’s Gold, but unless I continue to follow the officially-derided example set by Dan Brown’s Robert Langdon, then I suspect that none of will ever know the truth of the matter.

I recently finished filming for the latest 4 shows on Gardiner's World and have to say that it was a marvellous day, even if I was totally knackered afterwards.

I had the honour of having the grandfather of all us esoteric writers, Colin Wilson (see picture taken by Andy Gough of me actually signing my book for Colin!). Even at the age of 78 he still inspires and towers above us all! That one hour show will make very good viewing.

Following that I had Rat Scabies (of The Damned punk rock band) and Andrew Gough, both of whom spoke eruditely about all things to do with the Grail and Rennes.

We then had Kendra and Anne (Esoteric Online radio) on because they wanted to say a few choice words about Indigo Children and boy did they! Not what people will be expecting and will probably cause me to get a few emails.... On the same show we had magazine owner, Paul Salmon, talking about life after death.

Then I had Philippa Faulks on talking about her new book, The Masonic Magician (co-authored with Robert Cooper) and it was a great show to do because it was all about Cagliostro - a character I have always found fascinating.

Coming up we have Patrice Chaplin (Charlie Chaplin's grand daughter), Philip Coppens, Geoff Stray (on 2012), Robert Bauval, Robert and Olivia Temple and loads more.

I'm also filming a new documentary (to be produced by D'Avekki Studio's) on the worship of the serpent from ancient times. This is my old love and I shall seriously enjoy doing it.

Also just completed a new book which will be out later this year under O Books entitled, Delusion. Then I'll be off with Philip Coppens and Geoff Stray on a 2012 film; going down to Queens College, Cambridge for a film on an ancient Order; making a documentary with Dawn Bramadat & Tim Wallace-Murphy and so much more my mind often spins!

More soon and I'll update the blog etc when I have it.

New book explores Fleming's occult leanings

If the digits 007 seem as random as a Social Security Number, think again.
According to Philip Gardiner, author of "The Bond Code: The Dark World of Ian Fleming and James Bond," many of the names and symbols that pop up throughout the Bond literary and cinematic universe are, in fact, secret shoutouts to Fleming's occult leanings.
The U.K.-based Gardiner insists the designation 007 refers to John Dee -- a 16th century magician, occultist and spy who signed his letters with the three-digit moniker.
Gardiner's tome -- out in paperback to coincide with Sony's release of "Quantum of Solace," notes that Fleming was reading a Dee biography as he penned the first Bond novel, "Casino Royale."
The Bond books and films, Gardiner says, are peppered with clues, ciphers and codes that illuminate Fleming's interests in Gnostic, mystic and alchemist lore. And though the author of such books as "The Ark, the Shroud, and Mary" has written extensively about occult symbolism, he didn't recognize it in the Bond mythology until a more recent latenight TV viewing of "Live and Let Die."
"I was soon wondering why there were so many occult references in the film," he says. "Then I simply couldn't stop and purchased all the Bond novels to see what Fleming was up to. ... (In 'Live and Let Die' we have the snakes, voodoo, Baron Samedi and Tarot cards with the initials JB (James Bond) on them for Jachin and Boaz, the Freemasonic pillars from the Temple of Solomon."
In researching his book, he found that Fleming was influenced by such dark side figures as British occultist Aleister Crowley and astrologer and psychic Sybil Leek. Goldfinger, for instance, is an alchemy allusion as well as a Sufi term used for the divine ratio or golden mean -- a ratio seen in nature that artists such as Leonardo Da Vinci included in their work.
Thanks to another Sony movie, everyone now knows that Da Vinci dabbled with mysticism and secret societies.
As for ``Solace,'' Gardiner says there seemed to be something missing beyond the occult trappings.
"I loved it, but didn't see it as a Bond film to be honest,'' he says. "Where was Q? Where is the martini, the catchphrase?''

The Shame of the Algarve by Bridget Hicks
For 14 years, LAPS has tried to bring to the public awareness the shame of the Algarve, the many circus’s coming across their borders with live animals.

Protesting to the owners is a very dangerous business. In my more agile days I have been chased with weapons that at the time were being used to beating the animals.

2 years ago we photographed a polar bear, a leopard and the most heartbreaking sight of all, a small hippo. The first animal from the Artic regions, the second a roamer of the Savannas in its native land and the third an animal which must spend the daylight hours immersed in water until nightfall when it browses on land. Try and imagine the suffering in temperatures of 35 – 40º. These animals in a cage of 9m x 1.5m divided into 3.

Last Friday I went into shock as Cardinali Circus in Lagos are advertising a White Lion, only discovered in 1975 and one of the most rare breeds. Maybe the circus owners would explain where this lion were obtained. This animal is also in a cage 3 metres long, animal societies state that this a cruelty in itself.

We have contacted the South African Embassy about this matter and who have helped us with advice and information.

In this film Philip Gardiner tells of the intriguing life of Jules Verne (1828-1905), from his early days of being beaten by his father, rejecting his family’s approach to religion and entering into a world of magic and secret societies.

THE United States didn’t set out to eradicate the Mandeans, one of the oldest, smallest and least understood of the many minorities in Iraq. This extinction in the making has simply been another unfortunate and entirely unintended consequence of our invasion of Iraq — though that will be of little comfort to the Mandeans, whose 2,000-year-old culture is in grave danger of disappearing from the face of the earth.

The Mandeans are the only surviving Gnostics from antiquity, cousins of the people who produced the Nag Hammadi writings like the Gospel of Thomas, a work that sheds invaluable light on the many ways in which Jesus was perceived in the early Christian period. The Mandeans have their own language (Mandaic, a form of Aramaic close to the dialect of the Babylonian Talmud), an impressive body of literature, and a treasury of cultural and religious traditions amassed over two millennia of living in the southern marshes of present-day Iraq and Iran.

Practitioners of a religion at least as old as Christianity, the Mandeans have witnessed the rise of Islam; the Mongol invasion; the arrival of Europeans, who mistakenly identified them as “Christians of St. John,” because of their veneration of John the Baptist; and, most recently, the oppressive regime of Saddam Hussein, who drained the marshes after the first gulf war, an ecological catastrophe equivalent to destroying the Everglades. They have withstood everything — until now.

Like their ancestors, contemporary Mandeans were able to survive as a community because of the delicate balance achieved among Iraq’s many peoples over centuries of cohabitation. But our reckless prosecution of the war destroyed this balance, and the Mandeans, whose pacifist religion prohibits them from carrying weapons even for self-defense, found themselves victims of kidnappings, extortion, rapes, beatings, murders and forced conversions carried out by radical Islamic groups and common criminals.

When American forces invaded in 2003, there were probably 60,000 Mandeans in Iraq; today, fewer than 5,000 remain. Like millions of other Iraqis, those who managed to escape have become refugees, primarily in Syria and Jordan, with smaller numbers in Australia, Indonesia, Sweden and Yemen.

Unlike Christian and Muslim refugees, the Mandeans do not belong to a larger religious community that can provide them with protection and aid. Fundamentally alone in the world, the Mandeans are even more vulnerable and fewer than the Yazidis, another Iraqi minority that has suffered tremendously, since the latter have their own villages in the generally safer north, while the Mandeans are scattered in pockets around the south. They are the only minority group in Iraq without a safe enclave.

When Mandeans do seek refuge in the Kurdish-dominated north, they report that they are typically viewed as southern, Arabic-speaking interlopers, or, if their Mandean identity is discovered, persecuted as religious infidels. In Syria and Jordan, Mandeans feel unable to practice their religion openly and, after years of severe deprivation, some have begun to convert simply in order to receive aid from Muslim and Christian relief agencies.

Mandean activists have told me that the best hope for their ancient culture to survive is if a critical mass of Mandeans is allowed to settle in the United States, where they could rebuild their community and practice their traditions without fear of persecution. If this does not happen, individual Mandeans may survive for another generation, isolated in countries around the world, but the community and its culture may disappear forever.

Of the mere 500 Iraqi refugees who were allowed into the United States from April 2003 to April 2007, only a few were Mandeans. And despite the Bush administration’s commitment to let in 7,000 refugees in the fiscal year that ended last month, fewer than 2,000, including just three Iraqi Mandean families, entered the country.

In September, the Senate took a step in the right direction when it unanimously passed an amendment to a defense bill that grants privileged refugee status to members of a religious or minority community who are identified by the State Department as a persecuted group and have close relatives in the United States. But because so few Mandeans live here, this will do little for those seeking asylum. The legislation, however, also authorizes the State and Homeland Security Departments to grant privileged status to “other persecuted groups,” as they see fit.

If all Iraqi Mandeans are granted privileged status and allowed to enter the United States in significant numbers, it may just be enough to save them and their ancient culture from destruction. If not, after 2,000 years of history, of persecution and tenacious survival, the last Gnostics will finally disappear, victims of an extinction inadvertently set into motion by our nation’s negligence in Iraq.

"There are some out there who wish to attack me, rightly or wrongly. One issue brought to my attention for the first time today was a few extracts from Anna Franklin's book that got into Serpent Grail and Gnosis. They were there obviously because they spoke to me some truth. Now what seems to have happened upon checking back through my texts is that I must have copied some information from the internet and pasted it into research notes (because I don't actually possess Anna's book). A lot of authors do this, but normally re-write or credit what is used. Later when writing the text up it seems I have used Anna's text "almost" straight with some minor additions without realising. I didn't notice and if I had I would have sought Anna's permission and thanked her for it if it had been forthcoming. I don't wish to remain silent on this, instead confront the issue and do the right thing as best I possibly can. So I must apologise to Anna for this oversight on my part which was part of the mad rush in my life at that time which also led me to leave out a thank you for the extra text in Gnosis (US Edition) given by Gary Osborn. At the end of the day these are small parts of a much larger book, but it should not have happened and I have spent a great deal of time going through the edits on my new book Gateways to the Otherworld to ensure that a similar thing has not happened. In doing so and with the work and help of a psychologist we have also found that new information is revealing a totally different tack anyway. Nobody who writes anything can say that it has all come from within their own mind - nobody. All we write and think is the accumulation of a great many inputs, from parents to peers, and I have simply given my take on those many things I have learned. There are dozens of websites that actually carry work I have written without my name or indeed with another supplanted, but to me that does not matter, to others it does and I respect that as a human and again say sorry for my rushed and not purposeful mistake in this instance. The sheer amount of research needed, the cross referencing and gruelling work to produce such books can sometimes be daunting and if only it were worth while financially, but it actually isn't. My last two books will be out within the next few months thankfully.

I have also recently been receiving emails from certain individuals wishing to threaten my very existence, all of which are being saved and passed on to the relevant authorities.

At present, regardless of what some people may say or think about me, I shall be taking some time out from the public gaze anyway to deal with some heavy personal issues which are much more important to me. This is not to do with any personal insults or indeed the threats, it is life issues and has caused the cancellation of my trip to Arizona, Paris and several radio show interviews. I deeply regret this, but I have to do it and do not wish those few that enjoy my work to wonder at what has happened.

Again I must end with a thank you to all those who have helped me in the past, the great many authors, individuals, friends and family. And again I wish to offer my apology to Anna Franklin for what has just come to my attention and to Gary for letting him down by missing out a thank you in the 1st American edition of Gnosis."
